Graduation day, is the special day students wait for, almost their entire time in school. It's the day some have to bid farewell to school and for others to move on the next phase- AS/A Levels.
This year, on 24th April 2018, the graduating batch of 2018 celebrated their graduation in complete pride, love and nostalgia. |
Next up, after the students exited the stage, two students from year 11, Sundus Amin and Sukhjeev Singh gave a speech on their journey in Dubai Scholars and the room was filled with teary eyes.
Then came the much awaited moment, where the graduating students received their diploma of high school graduation. One by one the names were called and handed the certificates by Mr. Scarcelli, Principal of Dubai Scholars Private School. This year’s graduating batch was extremely promising and the next event was truly a testament of that. The achievement certificates the students were given, truly highlighted the excellence of Dubai Scholars. From certificates for the Skyline Business Competition to the Certificates for Inclusion Week, it was safe to say, almost each bright student held a certificate by the end of it.

What's an event without a head boy and head girl speech? Rightfully so, Sara Toofail and Rayyan Abbasi gave their final goodbye speech as head girl and head boy. Looking back at their journey, they truly proved themselves to be worthy of their esteemed title.
It was followed by a choir performance by Year 9 and Year 10, who sang "the climb" by Miley Cyrus and made everyone emotional. It was sung beautifully in complete harmony and gratitude. A farewell to their seniors who they looked up to and admired.

The performance was followed by a short coffee break after which parents were truly in store of an exciting performance.
|
The exciting performance mentioned before was year 11's performance organized by Naqiya Shabbir and Rayyan Abbasi, which was themed around their journey at Dubai Scholars and a powerful message which goes along the lines, "it's never too late to change"

The graduation ceremony was soon approaching its end. But... not without a few speeches of gratitude by the students of year 11, followed by a speech from Ms. Verma and a small token of appreciation from a parent who wished to remain anonymous- a small motivational saying backed up on a black
paper topped up with a graduation hat and scroll.

Here is what Fardeen Butt from year 11 had to say about graduating,
"I always looked forward to this day to be honest and when it has come, it has exceeded my expectations. I thoroughly enjoyed the past 13 years in Dubai Scholars with the same people I have graduated with today and I am excited for another 2 years with some of them in A Levels. I will always be grateful to this school, my parents, teachers and friends. So yeah, all in all, I am ecstatic to see what this new chapter has in store for my life and the lives of my friends"

This brings me to the end of my article. Being present at the graduation for every moment and also seeing my own brother graduate was an amazing experience. I look up to this graduating batch and
I know that so many others do too.

As our 11th graders graduated, a worldly tradition was to follow, a farewell party, each house council member got together and treated their house with a scrumptious and unforgettable pizza party. The Beta and the Pi house had their farewell treats on Tuesday during the school recess and the Omega and Alpha house followed the same pattern on the following day.

Everyone loves pizza and when you have more than 10 boxes of pizza ordered in a room for you with a huge variety of mouthwatering flavors the brain tickling smell from those freshly baked pizzas is guaranteed to have you on the edge of your table.
From a range of savory margarita to divine BBQ and succulent super supreme, this was honestly a farewell treat I would never forget.
And a small message to the current 10th graders that we expect the same from them! =)
